If you’re a regular follower of this blog, you will see that this post doesn’t have a number on it. I’m going away.
The 23thorns brood is on their way down to the bush for a week or so (we’ll see how long we can survive the children in a small, unpowered bungalow). I’ve thought long and hard about ways to get posts out while I’m down there, but I can’t. The place we’re off to is an hour out of the nearest small town. There is no electricity (everything runs on gas) and no cellphone coverage.
And so I am going to abuse my executive authority as the chief (and only) blogger on here to freeze time until I get back. I’ll pick up where I left off then.
I hope you all keep well and I’ll see you when we get back. Unless I get killed by a hormonally imbalanced giraffe. “Til then, cheers.
It sounds like fun!!
Glad you liked my blog. Looking forward to hearing all about the adventure.
I hope to see you there!
Read the entire article why Oh, that. Once I went to check what is. It’s a good idea to take a break from a serious episode olabilir.Sonraki look forward to.
Well, if you get back to read this then you must have bet up the giraffe!! Good on you… I hope you enjoyed your walk in the bush… just a side note here, I’m jealous! 😉
🙂
Have fun, I’m heading to Budapest tomorrow so I won’t miss the missing posts till next month 🙂
Enjoy
GODSPEED my friend!!! Just kidding….I hope you & the brood & Miss Tracey have a lovely time in the bush….stay out of the giraffes way ok?? Holding my breath until you return!! 🙂
Sherri-Ellen & Nylablue xo
Thank you
I cannot wait to hear about the trials and tribulations of a week with small children and no electricity in a small bungalow upon your return. Good luck!
good luck for your days
Thank you
How wonderful, a week without electricity and cell phone! Hope you all enjoy it.
Wish you a wonderful, crazed giraffe free vacation.
🙂
Have a great time and let me know how you freeze time. I definitely need that!
🙂
Hurry back, dodge giraffes and any other hormonally imbalanced wildlife and bring back many stories of the Lowveld.
I fully intend to.
Enjoy your break 23thornses I’ll be waiting for your return…… now what am I going to read on my treadmill warmup???
🙂
Stay safe.
We look forward to lots of exciting news when you come back.
🙂
Great fun! Sure we will all be thoroughly entertained when you return! Say hello to the giraffes!
I’ll need to take along a ladder.
Have a good holiday 🙂
🙂
No no – we can’t hack it wiithout you. You skiver. (Terma of abuse I learned when I began teaching in the UK in the seventies. They also ‘wagged classes’ – another redolent metaphor).
I was walking my dogs in Oxford the other day when I saw a nice graffito on a wall: (in large block capitals and black paint)
NINKOMPOOP
(loved the spelling choice, and the peculiarly Oxfordian choice of insult.)
We don’t wag around here, but we’ve been skiving for years. It is somehow just a deeply pleasing word.
Maybe your nincompoop was Russian?
Yeah…”V” looks absolute over the MOON about her impending trip into a giraffe’s digestive system…see you when you get back and you do realise that we all consider this fudging/welching (isn’t the English equivalent of “slacking off” so much more Jolly and convivial than the Aussie or African?) sir.
I decided not to leave a comment here, as you probably can’t read it without internet access.
What is the weather like in the lowveld this time of year? It’s nominally winter but east of the Drakensburgs so not like Johannesburg, and not next to the Indian Ocean like Durban.
It’s actually surprisingly close to the coast, over the thin part of Mozambique. It can get pretty damn cold at night (but never freezing), but the days can warm up to over thirty.
Waiting your return with bated breath.
🙂
Have a great break!
🙂
Have fun and be safe!
🙂
A week without tech, I like that idea. Safe travels and enjoy.
Thanks
Buh-Bye, have fun, don’t get eaten, don’t eat anything weird unless you video it, and we will try to hold down the fort for you while you are gone!
I always liked the idea that behind every video like that, there’s some guy who surveyed the scene of the disaster, and instead of rushing in to help, thought “this will look great on Youtube!”
have a good time!
Ta
Try not to get eaten by a lion 🙂 I enjoy your blog too much. Actually as you wrote of hormonally imbalanced Giraffe I thought that you might cross the path of bad tempered lion…
Have a great holiday!
We wish we could find the lions. It’s not easy.
Happy blog rest. Enjoy your break.
OMG. I didn’t have to reserve an evening to read your post! Happy trails.
